Can I get tetanus from a Rusty Razor?

Normally my razors dont rust but I put it in a plastic bag while still wet since I was traveling and it got a bit rusted. I was careful for the next few shaves but today I was in a hurry and I didn’t think about the rust and I got like 10 small nicks since I was rushing. Now I’m wondering if I could get tetanus. I got my last shots 9 years ago and I’m assuming that included a tetanus shot but I’m not sure if it was a 10 year shot or less. Help!

  1. Tetanus is caused by the bacteria c. tetani and is not necessarily spread by rusty objects, but is in fact mainly found in soil and manure. Unless you have been using your razors outside or in a barn, you don’t have to worry. You should however get immunized again next year unless you had the tdap shot and then you’re good until age 60!
