  2. Hey geofatboy,

I don’t know about that Edwin Jagger, but i just bought a Pils safety razor and it’s amazing, it’s top of the notch for Safety razors. They are made in Germany. You might already be familiar with them. Take care, thanks for the vids.

Rather than some disposable item that you use a couple times and toss in the trash, you can get many years out of a nice chrome safety razor than hand it off so someone else to use it. Unfortunately, I don’t have any razors passed to me from my Pops…
Truth is, they are both great razors and shaving is a matter of personal preference. The Edwin Jagger now hangs on my razor/brush holder and is the everyday razor!
It’s an amazing chrome finish and a fantastic shaver!

    Thank You Simonpepito,
Yes, I’m familiar with the Pils. Maybe someday I’ll own one, but unfortunately, not yet…
It’s a beautiful looking razor certainly futuristic, appealing, and an engineering feat.
I’m also aware that the cost is approximately $240 US which prohibits a lot of people form purchasing one, including myself!
I’ve heard many good things about them!
I’m familiar, but not intimately familiar if you catch my drift! Ha !
    Enjoy yours my friend!
    Best Regards,

Razor Blades yield different results for different wet shavers. What works perfectly and consistently on one gent may not be what the Doctor ordered for somebody else…
That being said, I prefer Feather Blades and that is what I’m using in the Edwin Jagger in this video.
I would recommend purchasing a blade-sampler pack so that you can try out various blades and decide which works best for you.
    Good Luck,

    Thanks 1/2!
That Dovo is a great razor and should work well for you. If you have trouble navigating around your nose, mouth and chin area, you might consider a 5/8 or smaller blade…
Keep practicing till you get the moves memorized, then the muscle memory will take over…
The cream is Taylor of Old Bond St. Sandalwood and it’s available on the website if your need some.
It’s one of my favorites, lathers easily and the scent is a great wake up call in the morning!

That’s a handsome razor, for sure.

  12. I’ve got the same model (although the handle is white, a kind of ivory imitation) and it gives me a very comfortable shave each time. I find it gentler than a Merkur HD.

The Gleaming Chrome hurts my eyes!!!

    Hi Wizzie,
Yes, there are actually 4 Edwin Jagger models which are all basically the same razor head assembly with a different handle attached.
You are the proud owner of the Imitation Ivory Handle. (white)
    The others are as follows:
    Imitation Ebony Handle (black)
    Lined Chrome Handle
and lastly,Smooth Chrome Handle (which I’m using in this video)
You can personalize it by choosing the razor with the handle that is most appealing to you!
    4 Great shaving Tools!
    All the Best!

  15. Hey Geo, firstly, thanks for a great video. Secondly, i was wondering if you’ve ever used a parker HD DE razor and would you recommend it?

    Comment by sonucraze — December 8, 2010 @ 12:46 pm

  16. @sonucraze
    Thanks for that sonu!
Parker razors are manufactured in India and have had some quality control issues in the past.
    I’ve heard they’ve been improving on that…
I do own a Parker 22R in the Gunmetal finish.
It’s a great looking razor and shaves well, yet a bit mild for my tastes.
I’ve been looking at the Parker 99R Razor but don’t own one yet.
If I acquire one, I’ll demo it and let you know how it works out!

  17. One word springs to mind: “Wow!”
I can’t make up my mind whether you liked the EJ or not :-)
On your recommendation I’ve purchased this for the nephew for Xmas but, after seeing the video, I think it might be socks for him and a shiny new EJ DE for me (LOL!)
Another excellent video my friend. Keep up the great work!
P.S. None of this is helping my RAD!!

  18. Okay Geo, you mentioned having a Top 3 of favorite razors…what are they?

    Comment by greeterboy — December 8, 2010 @ 10:33 pm

  19. @itsamathematicsthing
    Yo David!
Tha’ts funny, I asked Mrs.Geo to watch the video before I uploaded it and her reply was WOW, I can tell you really like that razor!
Trust me, your nephew is going to be one happy camper, er, I mean wet-shaver!
Give him the socks too! He can use them to polish the razor. Hah!
All I can say is RAD is not BAD !!!
Tell your wife that there are a lot of other things, some not so good things, that you could be spending your money on…
    Be well!

    Hi greeterboy,
This week I’d probably go with the Fatboy (1959), The Edwin Jagger, and the Merkur Progress or HD.
I’ll let you know if it changes next week! lol…
    Best Regards,
